  • TNB1 and TNB2 continuous GNSS stations There are currently two continuous GNSS stations, TNB1 and TNB2, nearby the Italian base MZS (Mario Zucchelli Station). Collected data, in RINEX format, are sent daily in Italy and are available for download at the Database page of this website. TNB1 continuous GPS station was monumented during the 1997-1998 campaign on a granite outcrop. It was originally equipped with an Ashtech Z-12 GPS receiver and an Ashtech 700936D Dorne Margolin antenna with chokering. Installed on a concrete pillar, TNB1 continuously collected data of the GPS constellation for about 17 years. In November 2015, the instrumentation was completely renewed. Currently, the station is equipped with a Leica GS25 GNSS receiver and a Leica AT504 Dorne Margolin antenna with chokering. TNB1 collect data of GPS and GLONASS constellations.

  • During the XIII and XIV Italian Antarctic expeditions (1997/98, 1998/99), 18 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the international CRP project in southern Victoria Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic and metamorphic rocks. The investigated regions are within Taylor Glacier ST 57-60/5 and Ross Island ST 57-60/6* USGS sheets.   • During the XVII Italian Antarctic expedition (2001/02), 61 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the project "Role of Cenozoic tectonic and glacial events in the landscape evolution of the Victoria Land region" in northern Victoria Land. They include subvolcanic and metamorphic rocks. The investigated regions are within Cape Adare SR 59-60/13*, Cape Hallett SS 58-60/2, Coulman Island SS 58-60/6, Freyberg Mountains SS 58-60/1 and Mount Murchison SS 58-60/5 USGS sheets.

  • During the XXXIII Italian Antarctic expedition (2017/18), 18 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the AntMet project in northern and southern Victoria Land. They include intrusive and subvolcanic rocks and glacial deposits. The investigated regions are within Convoy Range ST 57-60/1, Reeves Névé SS 55-57/12 and Welcome Mountain SS 55-57/4 USGS sheets.   • During the XV Italian Antarctic expedition (1999/2000), 213 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the BACKTAM project in Oates Land and George V Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The investigated regions are within Australian Antarctic Territory - Ross Dependency - Sr57-58, Australian Antarctic Territory - Sq55-56, Australian Antarctic Territory - Sr55-56 and Australian Antarctic Territory - Terre Adelie - Sq53-54 sheets.   • During the III Italian Antarctic expedition (1987/88), 1304 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the project "Geological mapping, basement geology and mineral resources" in both northern and southern Victoria Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic and metamorphic rocks. The investigated regions are within Mount Melbourne SS 58-60/9, Mount Murchison SS 58-60/5, Mount Joyce SS 55-57-/16, Relief Inlet SS 58-60/13, Sequence Hills SS 55-57/8, Franklin Island ST 57-60/2* and Convoy Range ST 57-60/1 USGS sheets.

  • During the X Italian Antarctic expedition (1994/95), 521 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the project "Proterozoic-Paleozoic evolution of the Pacific margin of Antarctica" in northern Victoria Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The investigated regions are within Cape Hallett SS 58-60/2, Daniels Range SR 57-58/14, Ebbe Glacier SR 57-58/16, Freyberg Mountains SS 58-60/1, Mount Melbourne SS 58-60/9, Mount Murchison SS 58-60/5 and Mount Soza SR 57-58/15 USGS sheets.

  • During the XXXIII and XXXIV Italian Antarctic expeditions (2017/18, 2018/19), 194 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the project "Dating of tectonic activity along the Transantarctic Mountains front" in northern and southern Victoria Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The investigated regions are within Convoy Range ST 57-60/1, Franklin Island ST 57-60/2*, Mount Joyce SS 55-57/16, Mount Melbourne SS 58-60/9, Reeves Névé SS 55-57/12, Relief Inlet SS 58-60/13 and Ross Island ST 57-60/6* USGS sheets.

  • During the XI Italian Antarctic expedition (1995/96), 435 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the project "Geological, geomorphological and geophysical mapping of Victoria Land" in northern and southern Victoria Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks and fossil woods. The investigated regions are within Cape Hallett SS 58-60/2, Convoy Range ST 57-60/1, Coulman Island SS 58-60/6, Mount Joyce SS 55-57/16, Mount Melbourne SS 58-60/9, Mount Murchison SS 58-60/5, Reeves Névé 55-57/12, Relief Inlet SS 58-60/13 and Sequence Hills SS 55-57/8 USGS sheets.

  • During the XII Italian Antarctic expedition (1996/97), 721 rocks have been sampled within the aim of the project "Crustal accretion in northern Victoria Land: structure, metamorphism, kinematics and chronology of the junction between Wilson, Bowers and Robertson Bay terranes" in northern Victoria Land. They include intrusive, subvolcanic, volcanic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The investigated regions are within Coulman Island SS 58-60/6, Ebbe Glacier SR 57-58/16, Freyberg Mountains SS 58-60/1, Mount Murchison SS 58-60/5, Mount Soza SR 57-58/15, Ob' Bay SR 57-58/11 and Yule Bay SR 57-58/12 USGS sheets.
