I-VOLCAN - Seismic Monitoring Network of Mt. Melbourne (Antarctica)
Continuous seismic monitoring data from Mt. Melbourne volcano (Victoria Land) are recorded for volcanic risk mitigation. The dataset includes raw continuous waveforms and processed products like Root Mean Squared (RMS) amplitude time series and seismic event counts. Seismic signals cover volcanic seismic signals, ice-quakes, and microseism background signals. Processed data is available for direct download via the provided dashboard links, whereas raw continuous seismic data can be obtained upon request to the point of contact/PIs.

- Statement
-
Processing Workflow:
- Transient Detection: Automatic identification of events (ice-quakes, earthquakes) is performed using the STA/LTA algorithm across multiple frequency bands.
- Spectral Analysis: Frequency content is analyzed via Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to produce spectra and spectrograms. Spectrograms use Welch’s method with 81.92 s windows on 10-minute segments.
- Amplitude Estimation: For continuous signals (microseism, tremor), root mean squared (RMS) amplitudes are calculated. RMS values are computed on the vertical component, typically filtered in the 0.1–40 Hz band
